1、 Core functions
Coloring and Whitening
Endow rubber products with pure white or vibrant colors, enhance visual aesthetics, and elevate product quality.
Anti UV and anti-aging
Absorb ultraviolet rays, delay rubber yellowing, cracking, and performance degradation caused by light exposure, and extend its service life.
Case: Adding rutile titanium dioxide to car tires can enhance their resistance to ozone and ultraviolet radiation.
Reinforcement and filling
Improve the mechanical strength (such as tensile strength and wear resistance) of rubber products, and use them as functional fillers to reduce production costs.
2、 Segmented application areas
Car tires
Mainly rutile type, mixed with rutile type (such as R-350 grade) to enhance weather resistance and prevent tire surface aging caused by ultraviolet radiation.
Daily necessities and industrial products
Footwear/Gloves: Sharp titanium dioxide provides whiteness and sun resistance;
Sports equipment/rubber flooring: enhances surface aesthetics and wear resistance.
3、 Key to Performance Optimization
Crystal type selection
Sharp titanium type: universal type, low cost, used for light colored products;
Rutile type: In areas with high weather resistance requirements (such as tire sidewalls), it has excellent resistance to yellowing.
Surface treatment technology
Silicon/aluminum coating passivation treatment (such as titanium dioxide R-350) can reduce the reaction with rubber additives and avoid yellowing.
Formula collaboration
Compound with carbon black and anti-aging agents to balance cost and wear resistance;
Particle size control (fine particles) ensures uniform dispersion and maintains rubber elasticity.
4、 Precautions
Addition amount: Excessive amount may affect rubber ductility and needs to be adjusted according to product requirements;
Storage: Requires a dry environment to prevent moisture absorption and clumping;
Environmental friendliness: Meets non-toxic standards and is suitable for contact products such as gloves.
Note: Titanium dioxide plays a dual role as both a pigment and a functional filler in rubber, with its high refractive index (rutile type ≈ 2.71) and chemical stability being the performance basis.
