What is chlorinated polyethylene material and where is it used?

一、 Chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) is a polymer material made by chlorination substitution reaction of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), and its chlorine content is usually between 25% and 45%. This material combines plastic strength and rubber elasticity, and its performance exhibits differentiated characteristics with different degrees of chlorination:
1. Low chlorine content (25% -35%): Excellent elasticity, suitable for rubber modification;
2. Medium to high chlorine content (35% -45%): It combines flexibility and rigidity and is commonly used in flame retardant materials.
二、 Main application areas
1. Wires and cables
The sheath material used for coal mine cables and UL/VDE standard cables ensures electrical safety and stability with high temperature resistance and flame retardant properties.
2. Automotive industry
Manufacturing hydraulic hoses, automotive hoses, and wire harness sheaths that can withstand low temperatures of -30 ℃ while maintaining toughness.
3. Building materials
As a sealing strip for doors and windows and a modifier for pipes, it leverages the advantages of weather resistance and chemical stability.
4. Industrial products
Applied to tape, adhesive sheet, magnetic materials, and ABS/PVC modification to enhance product mechanical properties and aging resistance.
5. Special fields
Meet the chemical corrosion resistance requirements of chemical equipment anti-corrosion, ship components and other scenarios.
CPE’s environmental attributes (non-toxic and odorless) and UL94-V0 flame retardant certification make it an important player in the fields of green manufacturing and high-performance requirements.
