2023 Green Recycled Plastic Supply Chain Forum Successfully Held

The media conference of the 2023 Green Recycled Plastics Supply Chain Forum was held on the afternoon of July 18th. The forum was jointly organized by three industry organizations: the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, the China Material Recycling Association, and the China Plastic Processing Industry Association. It was co organized by the Green Recycled Plastics Supply Chain Joint Working Group (GRPG), the China Environmental Protection Federation, and the German International Cooperation Organization (GIZ), with strong support from multiple units. The press conference will release the summary of four achievements of GRPG 2022-2023 case set, GRP standard system, soft plastic newborn project and UNDP full value chain Plastic pollution control project. The press conference was chaired by Mr. Gao Yang, Deputy Director of GRPG Office. This year, as the third forum, GRPG looks at the world from the domestic perspective, with the theme of “building an international green recycled plastic supply chain system”, introduces and publishes GRPG’s work achievements, discusses the joint links and progress of plastic recycling economy, and contributes China’s solutions and models to global Plastic pollution control.
Following the release of the “General Principles for the Design and Evaluation of Plastic Products that are Easy to Recycle and Reuse” in 2021 and the “Hui” logo, GRPG also released a green recycled plastic specification system and “Re” logo in 2022 aimed at fully realizing standardized recycling of more plastic waste. This year, in order to support the use of the “Re” logo and further improve the standard system, The first local “Requirements for the Production and Marketing Supervision Chain of Green Recycled Plastics” standard in China, which runs through the entire industrial chain, has also been heavily released.
Dr. Hou Cong, Deputy Director of GRPG Office and Manager of Sustainable Development Regulations for ExxonMobil Asia Pacific, will be responsible for the release and introduction of standards. The standard fills the domestic gap and puts forward specific requirements for enterprises in plastic recycling management and production processes, including corporate social responsibility, process control, material procurement, sales, outsourcing, and other aspects.
The release of the standard means that the regulatory system for green recycled plastics in China is further improved, and the traceability of recycled plastics is achieved, which will open a new chapter in the supply chain of green recycled plastics.
