How much do you know about ACR processing aids?

PVC is extremely sensitive to heat. When the temperature reaches 90 ℃, a slight thermal decomposition reaction begins. When the temperature rises to 120 ℃, the decomposition reaction intensifies. After heating at 150 ℃ for 10 minutes, the PVC resin gradually changes from its original white color to yellow, red, brown, and black. The processing temperature for PVC to reach the viscous flow state needs to be higher than this temperature. Therefore, in order to make PVC practical, a variety of additives and fillers such as plasticizers, stabilizers, lubricants, etc. need to be added during its processing. ACR processing aids are one of the important processing aids. It belongs to the category of acrylic processing aids and is a copolymer of methacrylate and acrylic ester. ACR processing aids promote the melting of PVC processing systems, improve the rheological properties of the melt, and the incompatible parts with PVC can migrate outside the molten resin system, thereby improving its demolding performance without increasing the power consumption of processing equipment. It can be seen that ACR processing aids play an important role in PVC processing systems.

Advantages of using ACR processing aids:

1. It has good compatibility with PVC resin, is easy to disperse in PVC resin, and is easy to operate.

2. It has internal plasticity and can be used in shoe sole materials, wire and cable materials, and soft transparent materials to reduce the amount of plasticizer used and solve the problem of surface migration of plasticizers.

3. It can significantly improve the low-temperature flexibility and impact strength of the product.

4. Significantly improve the surface glossiness of the product, superior to ACR.

5. Good thermal stability and weather resistance.

6. Reduce melt viscosity, shorten plasticization time, and increase unit yield. Improve the impact strength and low-temperature flexibility of the product.

Replacing ACR in equal quantities can reduce lubricant usage or increase filler usage while maintaining material properties, opening up new avenues for optimizing product quality and reducing costs.
